Third Root Yoga Teachers
Christina Baal
Christina Baal is a certified yoga teacher, licensed social worker, immigrant rights organizer, daughter, aunt, niece, sister, and friend. Since discovering her yoga practice during a particularly challenging time in her life, yoga has helped her to heal, to improve a once volatile relationship with her own body, to find calm and focus even in the most difficult situations, and be better at all the roles she plays in her life. Since discovering the potential for yoga and meditation to be a vehicle for change, Christina has strived to make yoga accessible to disenfranchised communities and has taught free classes to Chinese and Latino immigrants in both English and Spanish and to survivors of domestic violence and sexual trauma. Christina’s classes combine breath, flow, and meditation as a vehicle to awaken mind, create heightened awareness, and unite the body and spirit. She is the Director of Cabrini Immigrant Services, a community based organization that empowers the immigrant community of New York City through legal, educational, and supportive services. She received her MSW from Hunter College with a concentration in Clinical Social Work and Community Organizing and received her 200-hour yoga teacher certification from Om Yoga Center.
