Community Acupuncture
In Community Acupuncture, instead of being treated in individual rooms, patients sit in comfortable recliner chairs in our large community room. We use a style of acupuncture where we needle mainly points on the arms and legs, from elbows and knees down, and on the ears and scalp — so there’s no need to disrobe. We encourage you to try both community acupuncture and individual treatments to see what you like best.
What will my Community Acupuncture experience be like?

Community Acupuncture treatments value simplicity. They are designed to minimize talking time between the acupuncturist and patient. Instead of a lengthy intake session, we’ll ask you a few questions about what you want to address, and then we’ll do a traditional tongue and pulse diagnosis to decide how to treat you. The majority of the treatment time is for you to relax in the chair. Many patients fall asleep. Whenever you’re ready for us to pull out the needles, just make eye contact with us or quietly get our attention, and we’ll unpin you.
Patients often like community acupuncture because they can come with their friends and family and get treated together. Community Acupuncture is also flexible enough to fit any schedule. Since we don’t do a lot of talking, you can come in and receive a quick treatment on busy days, or, if you need time to relax, you can sit with the needles in for as long as you like. One unique aspect of Community Acupuncture is that a very soothing healing energy is created by having a lot of people receiving acupuncture together in one room. This often makes treatment in this setting very powerful.
Because we treat in a community setting, we can also keep the price of this service quite low. This means that patients can often come in more than once a week. The frequent treatments help remind the body of its capacity to recover and can lead to healing more quickly. We will discuss with you about how often you should come back in for treatment. Some conditions require a few treatments per week — at least in the beginning until you start to improve — while other conditions may only require treatment once a week.
